I was counseled a couple of times for leaving my top button unbuttoned while wearing a tie. It was synched tightly but for a time I had a fatter neck and some shirts were uncomfortable. He (An elder) asked another brother, an MS at the time and a close friend, “whats up with him (me)?” He told him he didn’t know. He said he never noticed. It was the same elder that got after me for not shaving while I was doing the sound box. It was barley 2 days without shaving. Some elders are more militant nazi zombies than others.

shock horror! WITNESSING ATTIRE NOW CONDONES OPEN-NECK SHIRTS FOR MALES!
by steve2 ingo to jw.org right now friends and you will see a young male jw witnessing in a rural setting with publication in hand and - take careful note - wearing a crisply-white open-neck shirt.
bring out the carnival, light the lights: the organ ization is kicking itself into an ongoing casualization of its rank and file.. in the 1960s through 1980s i know brothers who dared to attire themselves sans ties who were reprimanded or worse.

Holiday laugh on youtube: I set curtains on fire during Christmas marionette show
by humbled ini made a short marionette show for my adult family and accidentally set the curtain on fire!.
it was years since we had all our sons together, and with no money for presents--i did what i had done before i jumped on board with jw-screw-the-holidays thinking.
we made stuff up and had a good time.. and we did it again after some really rough years.. i don't know how else to get there but go to youtube.

Welcome!
I’m amazed they initially didn’t DF you. They must have really liked you. I had a JC meeting for drunkenness in 2010. I wasn’t DF’d because I was “repentant”. They knew for years before this that I had a struggle with alcohol. But it was about 6 – 9 months later that I began questioning everything because of the lack of love they showed and the way I was treated after the announcement that I was publicly reproved. Things just weren’t adding up for me.
It is unbelievable all you learn once you open Pandora’s Box. Once open, you can’t close it. My head was spinning
My family and I celebrated Christmas for the first time this year too. My wife followed me out about a year and a half after I left. Good luck with everything. I look forward to reading more of your story.

Different country, different rules? I was in Hawaii in the mid 90’s and we did “beech witnessing” and I was allowed to take my dress shoes and socks off, and my tie with the top button open while witnessing on the beech.

That started shortly before i left. I thought the same thing. In fact, i think it was the month they first came out that i called it quits. I remember telling a fellow friend and MS "well those are a bit pathetic." he just chuckled. I think he thought the same thing.

if we don't all unite, we may win a few battles but Watchtower will win the WAR.
by excaliber into thank you for taking the time to read this, because i feel that it is extremely important.
over the years we have been waring against the watchtower, and our battle field has been the internet.and we have been very successful in establishing discussion forums and online resorces exposing false teachings and we have used youtube to further shed light on the watchtower, we have even written books to this end.. .
yes we have attacked watchtower at its weakest point, the internet and we have been able to do this as small groups and even individualy.

The Predicated End Was 2000 Years Ago Part 1
by maccauk11 in1st in a series describing how all things were fulfilled in the 1st century.
messiah told his 1st century faithful ones what was to occur in their generation, christians today mistakingly replace the "you" inthe new testamant with "us".
meaning they mistakenly presume and have been pre conditioned to think it is some future event.

Welcome to JWN.
Brainwashing is extremely hard to combat against. People will get out if they can. I don’t mean to sound crass, but I got the people I cared most about out. I got out 2 generations, my 2 kids and my wife along with myself. I will make sure, when my kids are old enough to understand, that my 2 kids never fall for the lies and deception of the JW’s.
If I lived closer to my mom and sister, perhaps I could work slowly with them getting out, but right now, they are so deep IN that I know it would be an unwinable war.
Right now, I’m satisfied with getting my kids and wife out of that hell.
Hearding cats, love that example.
